Rise to the Occasion - Rise Bar Supports Our Troops!

Happy Veterans Day! Recently Sergeant Humberto McLaren, from the deployed team at Fort Carson, CO, wrote to us at Rise Bar a while back asking if we could donate some bars to boost his spirits and those of his fellow troops serving out in Afghanistan. We gladly sent some bars to support our soldiers, and a month later we were excited to receive a thank you gift. As much as it made the Rise Bar family feel a little warm inside to make the donation, we couldn’t help but be even more appreciative of the response back. The soldiers of 68th CSSB expressed their gratitude with a heartfelt, handwritten note, a few pictures of the deployed soldiers, and their awesome battalion coin!

Did you know…

-Veterans Day, up until 1954, was called Armistice Day. Armistice Day was originally created to honor WWI Veterans.

-In 2012, there were 21.8 million veterans living in the United States. More than 1.3 million have served in multiple wars (US Census Bureau).

-The very first “Unknown Soldier” was buried on November 11, 1921 at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. A tomb of an Unknown Soldier (unidentified) is typically a monument dedicated to all soldiers that were killed at war.

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest
appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
-John Fitzgerald Kennedy
